Searching through the best pizza pan reviews, the one pan that stood out above all others was this 14-inch pizza pan. It looks deceptively simple, but it’s hands down the most capable out of all the pizza pans I’m reviewing today. It obviously does all the basics that a pizza pan should be able to do. You can make homemade or store-bought pizza in it.

It is non-stick stainless steel; therefore, you don’t need to use any baking paper, parchment, or foil. At this point, I should point out that the non-stick coating on this pizza pan doesn’t consist of any harmful Teflon. The layer is silicone polyester, which is safe up to 450 degrees Fahrenheit temperature. Therefore, you shouldn’t cook at a higher temperature than this.

This pizza pan is dishwasher safe, so cleanup is a breeze. However, like I always suggest, if you want your kitchenware to last longer and give you the best performance, hand wash it in warm and soapy water. This pizza pan will also undoubtedly serve you better if you do this. So far, all the characteristics we’ve talked about are present in any good pizza pan. So what’s different about the Wilton pan?

Well, it’s lightweight, cheap, and conducts heat like a champ! For a very affordable price, you’re getting a premium pizza pan! The surface is very slick, and easy to pick the pizza off. The sides are very slightly raised. The pan does tend to warp a little when overheated, but levels once cooled. Also, if you’re not careful, your food will burn. So keep an eye on it if you’re cooking something delicate.

Some people prefer their pizza crust soft, while others like it crispy. If you’re in the latter group, you’re going to appreciate this Cuisinart pan. It’s a 14-inch pan that’s perforated for crisping the pizza crust to perfection. This pizza pan is heavy gauge steel; however, it’s aluminized, so heat distributes evenly.

You wouldn’t have to worry about there being any uncooked spots or burnt bits. The rim is also raised, which means there shouldn’t be a lot of warping. Both the interior and exterior are covered with Whitford Xylan non-stick, so the pan is easy to clean. However, it would help if you kept in mind that Xylan isn’t that much different from Teflon.

So you definitely should not heat this pan over 500 degrees Fahrenheit for your safety. While cooking anything on this pan, make sure to apply cooking spray evenly. And after cooking, do not cut your pizza on this pan because it will damage the non-stick coating. You should follow these tips no matter which non-stick pan you’re using.

What I liked
  • Excellent steel construction
  • It makes pizza perfectly crispy
  • Even heat distribution
  • It does not warp in high heat
What I did not like
  • Some users complained that the silver coating tends to come off

Square and high-sides, this doesn’t look like a regular pizza pan. Well, this is a beautiful Detroit-style pizza pan that’s perfect for making deep dish pizzas and will never give you any hassle at all. This dish is a large 8 inches by 10 inches in size, with a depth of 2.25 inches. Moreover, it’s made of hard-anodized aluminum. It’s not non-stick, but instead, it is stick-resistant.

Therefore you don’t need to worry about non-stick chemicals. It also heats safely to 700 degrees Fahrenheit! When you’re cooking, oil the bottom and sides properly. The pan is finished with a non-toxic Pre-Seasoned Tuff-Kote (PSTK) coating, which helps release the pizza from the pan.

Users claim that this works well, and the pizza doesn’t stick to the pan. The manufacturer recommends that you use a metal spatula for this. You heard right! Metal, not silicone or plastic. They claim that the finish is metal utensils safe and will not peel off like most non-stick coating on pizza pans.

Buying healthy cookware is often headache-inducing. Avoiding non-stick coatings, avoiding aluminum, making sure there isn’t any other type of coating on the pot- all the hassle! Do you know what’s free of all those unhealthy ingredients? Cast iron! You’re used to non-stick coated stainless steel or aluminum pizza pans, but this cast iron pizza and baking pan also deserves recognition.

It’s excellent at heat distribution, comes pre-seasoned, and is fantastic at making crispy crusts. Cast iron pans are generally great for making a variety of healthy dishes. Aside from pizza, I’ve also seen people making steak, chicken, or even dosa on this beauty! You can start using it straight out of the package and get excellent results.

There’s a bit of caution you should practice, though. Not everyone is used to cooking with a cast iron pan, and if you’re not familiar with it, you’ll end up with a rusted pan pretty soon. So I suggest you learn how to use and maintain a cast iron pan first.

What I liked
  • An excellent and sturdy pan
  • You can use it for a variety of dishes
  • Great for use on a range of cooking surfaces
  • No unhealthy coatings on the pan
What I did not like
  • Need to be maintained pretty meticulously

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q: Do You Need to Preheat the Pizza Pan?

A: You do not have to preheat the pizza pan when making a pizza for yourself because the pizza pan already gives you a crispy crust as the heat is coming slowly from all sides. If you are using a pizza stone, you will have to preheat the stone to get crisp edges. So, this means that you do not have to worry about preheating when using a pizza pan.

Q: Which One Is Better: Pizza Stone or Pizza Pan?

A: The pizza pan is better than the pizza stone as it gives more crispy crust edges. When making a pizza on a stone, the dough on the pizza is cooked so fast that there is less crust on the side unless you preheat the stone. In comparison, making the pizza on the pan slowly cooks the pizza and makes more crust.

Q: Are Aluminum Pizza Pans Dangerous?

A: While there is a lot of misconception regarding aluminum best pizza pans, they are not as bad as people consider them to be! Aluminum pans are lightweight and heat up faster, which ensures that your pizza will cook up more quickly too.

Pizza pans are made out of food-grade aluminum and have gone through multiple processes to ensure that they aren’t toxic and will not emit any harmful chemicals once they get hot. Good quality aluminum pans like the ones I’ve reviewed above are entirely safe to use.

Most of the pans come in the form of stainless steel, which is very cheap and has a long shelf life, but their con is that they burn the pizza from the bottom-most of the time. Therefore, aluminum pans are better. Most importantly, they are also easy to clean, unlike stainless steel pans.

Q: Steel Pans vs. Aluminum Pans, Which Is Better?

A: This topic is always up for debate, and in the end, it’s still up to you and what fits your requirements the most. Aluminum pizza pans are lightweight and thin, but they are not scratch-resistant and may also be prone to warping or denting. Most aluminum pans are also not dishwasher-proof and have to be hand-washed.

Steel pans are relatively thicker and easily washed by the dishwasher. Most stainless steel pans are also stick-proof. However, steel pans are prone to discoloration and staining after usage. Both steel and aluminum pans have their pros and cons. It solely depends on your personal preference and what you require from your pizza pan.
